West Ham emerge as favourites to sign Arsenal star

Reiss Nelson is reportedly locked in talks with Arsenal over a new contract and while his preference would be to remain at the Emirates, an agreement is yet to be reached.

According to the Daily Mirror, West Ham would be his preferred destination should an agreement with Arsenal fail to be reached. 

The report claims Nelson's situation has alerted several clubs, with West Ham, Brighton, Atalanta, Roma, and several Bundesliga clubs keeping tabs on him.

 Nelson is reportedly keen to stay in the capital even if he departs Arsenal, which has placed West Ham at the front of the queue.

With just 107 minutes of Premier League football this season, David Moyes' side will be able to give Nelson more regular game time than Arsenal. 

Even so, Nelson's contribution has proven vital for Mikel Arteta during his brief time on the pitch, having scored three goals and given two assists, including the game-winning 97th-minute goal against Bournemouth.

Arsenal are back in action against Southampton in a must-win game on Friday night.
