'Tucheliban at it again' - Reactions as Man City bamboozle Bayern Munich in Champions League quarter final first-leg
Manchester City recorded and emphatic 3-0 victory against Bayern Munich in the first leg to extend their unbeaten UCL home run to 25 matches.
In an encounter that saw Yan Sommer busy for nearly over 80 minutes, Bayern looked second-best all night at the wet Etihad atmosphere.
Bayern created some chances with Jamal Musiala blowing away an absolute golden opportunity in the first half after a determined block by Ruben Dias, much to Thomas Tuchel’s disgust.
Musiala’s miss proved costly just moments later after Rodri curled home an absolute stunner strike on his weaker left foot in the 27th minute to break the deadlock.
Rodri’s strike proved to be the difference between the teams at the break as Bayern plot to comeback as they have often done in the Bundesliga this season.
Second Half
However, despite the visitors’ bright start to the second 45 minutes with Leroy Sané testing Ederson twice inside the opening 10 minutes of the second half, the Bavarians would be made to pay once more following a defensive chaos at the back.
Sommer was next to be called into action, producing a stunning save to repel an acrobatic Dias effort.
The Bayern stopper could do nothing to stop Bernardo Silva from doubling the hosts advantage after an erratic slip-up from Dayot Upamecano.
Things went from bad to worse for Thomas Tuchel’s men as City found the net for a third.
15 minutes from stoppage time, the inevitable Erling Haaland powered home a headed to leave City with one foot in the semi-finals of the Champions League.
In the end, the hosts proved to be deserved winners of a thrilling contest at the Etihad with Pep Guardiola’s men coming out on top and Thomas Tuchel recording his second loss in his first four games as Bayern manager.

In a perfect world Potter should still be at Brighton, Tuchel at Chelsea, Nagelsmann should be at Bayern and Lampard should not be coaching. But the world is not perfect pic.twitter.com/1WaYeCPNPU
