Acquah-man’s hattrick fires Rivers United past sorry Motema Pembe

It was the Paul Acquah show in Uyo as NPFL champions Rivers United continued their impressive performance in the CAF Confederation Cup following a four-goal thriller against DC Motema Pembe.

Acquah scored a brilliant hat-trick to fire United to a convincing 3-1 win over Motema Pembe in their CAFCC group match encounter on Thursday at the Godswill Akpabio International Stadium, Uyo, Akwa Ibom State.

The Ghanaian superstar opened the scoring just before the break and added two more in the second half to inspire the Pride of Rivers to their third win in four matches in Group B.

Acquah also scored the decisive winner when both sides met in the first leg in Luanda back on February 26.

He has now scored four goals in his last two matches, taking his tally to four goals in four matches for Rivers United in the CAFCC.

With the win, Rivers United restored their two-point lead at the top of the table with nine points after four matches. Asec Mimosas are second on seven points while Pembe are rooted to the bottom of the group with just two points from a possible 12.
