PSG manager Christophe Galtier has admitted he does not know if he has a long-term future at the club in the wake of their UEFA Champions League elimination at the hands of Bayern Munich.

PSG lost the tie 3-0 on aggregate after the second leg at the Allianz Arena ended 2-0 to Bayern, thanks to second-half goals from Eric Maxim Choupo-Moting and substitute, Serge Gnabry.

Yet another Champions League exit for PSG

This result was yet another entry into a long list of disappointing European campaigns for the French club.

Lionel Messi could not prevent PSG crashing out of the champions league to Bayern Munich

The addition of proven winners like Lionel Messi and Sergio Ramos has not had the desired effect the Qatari owners envisaged.

Galtier, who took over from Mauricio Pochettino last summer is now widely expected to lose his job at the end of the season.

The failure to even make the semi-finals of the Champions League is considered unforgivable in the French media and it is hard to see how he survives this.

Galtier on PSG future

Asked about his future after the Bayern defeat, Galtier replied:

“My future? It’s really too early to talk about it. It obviously depends on the club's management and my president.

"There’s a disappointment. The club had a lot of hopes for this competition. I stay focused on the end of the season with a lot of energy and determination.”

He cited injuries, especially the absence of Neymar and Presnel Kimpembe as a reason why his team was unable to beat Bayern over two legs.

He said: “The difference with Bayern? Player availability. We had a lot of important absentees in the first game and the second.

"It is still a great disappointment, everyone is disappointed, me the most. We had a lot of hope on this return leg.

PSG manager Christophe Galtier responds to questions regarding his future

“We didn’t know how to score from our best moments. We had a very good first period where we managed to compete. In the second half, we gave away a stupid goal.

"At this level, you have to think more clearly. Don’t be ashamed to play long.”

Big picture for PSG

PSG will look to pick themselves up and once again finish the season strongly by winning the league title.

However, the futures of Neymar, Kylian Mbappe, and Lionel Messi remain uncertain going into the summer.
