Court sentences fan

This Wednesday, a Dutch court sentenced the fan who attacked Dmitrovic to three months in prison, according to Relevo.

The violent attacker is also reported to have received a two-year suspension from the Philips Stadion. However, the erring fan was previously sanctioned from entering the stadium, meaning he entered the stadium illegally to perpetrate the ill-advised act.

He is said to have been drunk on the night and during his attack on the Sevilla goalkeeper. The now-charged offender faces extra jeopardy as he has been fired from his job and evicted from the PSV supporters club, which he was a member of.

The attack on Dmitrovic

Sevilla beat PSV convincingly in the first-leg of their tie at the Sanchez Pizjuan, taking a 3-0 advantage into the second-leg.

PSV fought gallantly in the second leg, but the deficit they suffered in the first-leg proved to be too much. Luuk de Jong and Fabio Silva fired late in the game to give PSV a two-goal lead, but they could not manage the third before the end of the game.

As previously reported in detail here, after the game, Dmitrovic was the victim of an attack from a PSV fan; however, the goalkeeper managed to subdue his attacker and restrain him.
