Christophe Galtier has ruled out Neymar for the Champions League Round of 16 second-leg clash against Bayern Munich.

PSG manager Christophe Galtier has confirmed that Neymar will be unavailable for Paris Saint-Germain's Champions League Round of 16 second-leg clash against Bayern Munich at the Allianz Arena.

The 31-year-old hurt his ankle in the 4-3 victory over Lille last month and was scheduled for an early recovery ahead of the clash against PSG; however, Galtier has ruled out the possibility.

Neymar out for the clash against PSG

The French manager revealed today that Neymar would be out for their next game against Nantes this weekend, and will also be unavailable when they travel to Munich.

He acknowledged that his team will miss Neymar, however, he looked on the bright side of it, saying they will be more compact without Neymar as his absence allows them an extra body in midfield

“He will be out,” Galtier said, per the Daily Mail.

"I think that he will miss out against Bayern. His absence will be detrimental to us.

“Our block is much more compact and denser with the absence of Neymar; instead of having two midfielders, we will be with three midfielders and two attackers.

“To tell you that Neymar's absence is trivial... no. It's a detrimental absence for us.”

PSG suffered a first-leg defeat at home to a Kingsley Coman strike and will have to score two unanswered goals in Munich to go through in regular time.

Neymar's injury

Neymar scored the second goal in a thrilling 4-3 victory for PSG. The Parisians were two goals ahead thanks to strikes from Mbappe and Neymar, but an immense Lille effort saw their two-goal lead disappear before they fell behind. Late magic from Mbappe and Lionel Messi saw PSG grab all three points to send the Parc des Princes rocking.

However, it was not all merrymaking for Galtier's men, as two of their most important players, Nuno Mendes and Neymar, went off injured.

The Portuguese full-back was immediately available for the next game, the victory against Marseille; however, Neymar, as Galtier has confirmed, remains an absentee.
