A supermarket owned by Lionel Messi’s wife Antonela Roccuzzo's family has been attacked by gunmen in Messi's hometown of Rosario.
The report emerged on Thursday, March 2, just days after Messi and Antonella attended the FIFA The Best Award where the 35-year-old Argentine was crowned as the FIFA Men’s best player of the year for the seventh time.

On Thursday, reports emerged that a group of attackers fired over a dozen times against the metal blinds that covered the windows and doors of the Supermercado Único, owned by Antonela Roccuzzo’s family.
Infobae reports that one of the individuals involved in the attack was captured by a surveillance camera as he approached the supermarket, as a co-pilot of a motorcycle.
However, according to the Argentine press, the real objective of this attack was to send a message to her husband and Paris Saint Germain star Lionel Messi after they left a message that read: "Messi, Javkin (mayor of Rosario) is not going to take care of you.".
A local television station in the Argentine city also reported on the attack while suggesting an alleged extortion attempt against the recent winner of The FIFA Best trophy.

The supermarket which is currently managed by one of Antonela's cousins was reportedly attacked at at 3:20am on Thursday, March 2, on Lavalle Street, in the west of Rosario.
In the metal shutter of the place 14 impacts were counted, and Infobae reports that the Radio Command of the provincial police went to the scene after receiving the alert and there they found a message addressed directly against PSG star Messi in a message on a cardboard that read: "Messi, we are waiting for you. Javkin is a narco, he's not going to take care of you,".
Investigation has since been opened into the case by authorities but discovered that those responsible for the trade had not received extortion in the hours before the attack and that the matter could be linked to a section of Mafia groups in the of the city, according to Infobae.
However, the news comes amid growing concerns about insecurity in Rosario, with 300 people already reported to have lost their lives due to the unstable situation in the city.

The 35-year-old model is also extremely supportive of Messi's career.
