After the postponement of the NNL draws which was scheduled to hold on Wednesday, February 22, the league's management has provided new updates.

On Wednesday, February 22, fixture draws for the 2023 season of the Nigeria National League (NNL) - Nigeria's second club football division, were supposed to have been held in Abuja.

The exercise, however, was postponed after the league's management complained about suffering technical difficulties.

Now, the NNL has given a new update about the league which is expected to kick off on Friday, March 3.

NNL says clubs must complete registrations before March 2

Ahead of the start of the league on March 3, the NNL management has issued participating clubs must complete the registration of players and officials for the new season before the Thursday, March 2 deadline.

The 2023 season is expected to see 43 teams split across two conferences: Northern and Southern, and eight groups: A1, A2, A3, A4, B1, B2, B3 and B4.

According to the NNL, participating clubs are to comply and take necessary actions and ensure their players and officials are registered on their online portal as part of club licensing regulations for the season.

NNL gives date for new draws for season schedule

The league body revealed that the postponed draw of the NNL 2023 season has now been rescheduled for Tuesday, February 28, 2023.

The virtual draw will start at 11 am at the league's secretariat, in Wuse, Abuja, with clubs expected to join via Zoom.

NNL 2023 to begin Friday, March 3

Already, the groupings and format for the 2023 new season have been concluded in the Northern and Southern Conferences.

In contrast to previous season, teams for the 2023 season have been grouped into eight parts based on proximity.

The top team from each group will then proceed to a Super 8 playoff to determine what four teams will gain promotion to next season's NPFL.
