Winners emerge at CCC League, Ibeju Lekki, United Cricket Club win big

Ibeju Lekki Cricket Club emerged champions of the 2022–2023 Club Cricket Committee (CCC) League Division One, and United Cricket Club won the Division Two trophy.

Ibeju Lekki Cricket Club emerged champions of the 2022–2023 Club Cricket Committee (CCC) League Division One, and United Cricket Club won the Division Two trophy.

United Cricket Club and Mondal Boys Cricket Club were promoted to Division One after their triumphs.

Individual awards

In the individual awards, Taiwo Mohammed of Ibeju Lekki won the player for the month of January, and Chima Akachukwu won the month of March.

Other winners of individual honors included Selim Salau of FGC Warri for the month of April, David Ankrah of FCC for the months of December and February, Ademola Onikoyi of GCI for November, and Naresh Pandey of Rising Stars for the month of October.

Selim Salau of CCC won best hitter, Mohammed Bolaji Moshood of Ibeju Lekki won best wicket keeper, Naresh Pandey of Rising Stars Cricket Club won best bowler, Sesan Adedeji of Island Titans won best fielder, and Danladi Isaac of Foundation CC took home the season MVP award in the Division One competition.

In Division Two, Pradeep Chaudhary of Unite won player of the month honors for the months of November, February, and April, while Arun took home the trophy for the month of December, Saheed Adegboyega of Rocks took home the honor for the month of October, Amar Arya of MRI Warriors took home the trophy for the month of January, and Vikas Choubey of Mondal Boys took home the trophy for the month of March.

Pradeep Chaudhary of United Cricket Club won the season’s MVP and best batter, Fawaz Fatai of Ibeju Lekki won best bowler, Eriola Alabi of Ibeju Lekki won best wicketkeeper, while Peter Areghan of Pioneers Cricket Club won best fielder.

Yishawu is happy with the success of the season

The CCC League sponsor, Gbolahan Olusegun Yishawu, praised the teams and expressed happiness at the season's conclusion.

Yishawu, who is a member-elect of, Lagos State House of Assembly, Eti-Osa Constituency, said that they needed to engage the youths to keep them away from the streets.

He said, “The event from the beginning of the season gives me great joy. It is a way of keeping people off the streets and supporting sports. We need to engage our youth and develop them. It is a privilege for me to participate in this sport by serving the country. I am always excited to support the league and identify with the sport. Congratulations to the teams that played and the winner."

Speaking on the league, CCC Chairman, Akin Denton, commended the teams for their performances, while promising that more sponsors will join the competition next season.
