Although Wilder had lost four of his last five fights, including consecutive defeats to Zhilei Zhang and Joseph Parker, he managed to end this streak at the Charles Koch Arena.

In the second round, 'The Bronze Bomber' managed to achieve a dubious knockdown when Herndon, off-balance, was struck by a left hook. Wilder led in the early rounds even though his scoring punches did not inflict damage on his adversary.

In the sixth round, Wilder shifted his tempo and landed a series of punches against the ropes that resulted in Herndon being knocked down for a second time. Nevertheless, Herndon managed to endure the round and prolong the fight.

In the last minute of the seventh round, Herndon was finally halted by the referee after being hit twice in quick succession by Wilder and showing little indication that he could return to the fight.

One of the potential future bouts for Wilder is a long-anticipated clash with Anthony Joshua, as the two have been on the verge of facing each other at several moments in their careers.

Following this victory, Wilder is set to take on Nigerian-born British boxer Anthony Joshua.
