Jermaine Franklin says victory against Anthony Joshua will help his cause to become a world champion.

American professional boxer Jermaine Franklin has lofty ambitions going ahead of his return to the ring.

The Michigan man takes on English professional boxer of Nigerian descent Anthony Oluwafemi Joshua in a massive heavyweight boxing showdown.

Franklin takes on Joshua after the first defeat of his career last year november at the Wembley Arena, in London, England.

The 29-year-old battled hard against British professional boxer Dillian Whyte but lost to the judges' majority decision.

Jermain Franklin on Anthony Joshua as a stepping stone

Joshua is the favorite against Franklin with the aim of returning to winning ways after back-to-back losses against Ukranian professional boxer Oleksandr Usyk.

Franklin four years younger than Joshua aims to one day become the heavyweight boxing champion.

Joshua a two-time unified heavyweight champion aims to return to the top of the division while Franklin wants a taste of glory for the first time.

In an interview with DAZN Boxing, Franklin talks about his ambition to become a top contender and even become a champion like Joshua.

Dissecting the outcome of the fight, Franklin explained Joshua is a stepping stone to realizing his dream to become champion.

He said, "For him they say his career is online for me uh everything's on the line.

"That's how I treat everybody. I've been boxing all my life, if you get nervous you're in the wrong sport.

"I mean that's that's probably how they're trying to put it like uh like I'm a pushover walkover or something like that but they're going to be in for rude awakening.

"I'm going to be a unified world champion but you know I just want to help boxers I love the sport."

Franklin in the interview also praised his coach Jesse Addison for his preparation.

Franklin explained that his coach has helped him see a different light and the sport of boxing has helped his life.

Coach Addison started that he prepared Franklin adequately to take on Joshua.

He said, "Joshua is chopping trees, we chopping tires we running in the sand we running in the midnight we running an early morning we're running between the day.

"We don't sleep all we do is work come April 1st the progress is gonna be the same right there."

Franklin takes on Joshua at the 02 Arena in London on Saturday, April 1, 2023.
