WNBA Finals: Napheesa Collier propels Minnesota Lynx to Game 1 win against New York Liberty
The Minnesota Lynx stunned the New York Liberty and took a 1-0 lead in the 2024 WNBA Finals by battling their way to a 95-93 overtime triumph in enemy territory while mounting repeated double-digit comebacks.
In the first half of the game, New York built a lead as big as eighteen points.
For the Lynx however, they made history with the biggest comeback victory in WNBA Finals history after trailing by 18 points.
Lynx beat Liberty
WNBA MVP runner-up With 8.4 seconds remaining in overtime, Napheesa Collier connected with a contested, fadeaway jump shot that turned out to be the game-winning basket.
Breanna Stewart was unable to tie the game into double overtime despite the Liberty having a last chance with the ball.
With 24 points and 10 rebounds, Liberty center Jonquel Jones topped all scorers.

Stewart and Sabrina Ionescu however were ineffective as they combined for 14 of 47 field goals.
Kayla McBride, Collier, and Courtney Williams all contributed at least 20 points for the Lynx to get a much-needed win.
The WNBA Finals will be exciting and stressful if Game 1 is any indication since both teams' late-game interactions were very good.
Sunday, October 13, 2024, the 2024 WNBA Finals continues with Game 2 between the Lynx and Liberty in New York.
