The second quarter was a 15-15 outburst but Mozambique went into halftime with a four-point lead.
Nigeria responded in the third quarter, outscoring Mozambique 18-15 to narrow the gap.
The fourth quarter proved decisive, with D'Tigress outscoring their opponents 18-12 to secure a five-point victory.
Top performers for Nigeria were Promise Amukamara with 13 points and six rebounds.
Murjanatu Musa delivered a double-double with 12 points and 12 rebounds while Ezinne Kalu added 16 points and four assists.
