Okako Adika in, Adebola Adeyeye misses out of 2023 WNBA Draft.

The 2023 WNBA Draft took place in the early hours of Tuesday, April 11, 2023.

The Indiana Fever's selection of South Carolina great Aliyah Boston with the Number one overall pick in the lottery meant that there was little anticipation surrounding the 2023 WNBA Draft.

With the Gamecocks, Boston won a title in 2022, as well as also awarded national player of the year for her junior campaign.

There's no denying that the Fever have acquired a new franchise player even though South Carolina's attempt to win back-to-back national championships this year was unsuccessful and Caitlin Clark snatched the national player of the year award from Boston.

Speaking after being drafted, Boston said, "Just knowing me, I would say winning every single game, and I still think that can happen.

"I think we're going to have a great team that's going to compete. We're going to continue to play for each other.

"So just getting a lot of wins, I think that's the most important part, but also growing as players."

Diamond Miller, a guard from Maryland, was selected No. 2 by Minnesota as projected.

The draft's unknown portion started at pick number three when Dallas selected Maddy Siegrist of Villanova, the leading scorer in the country.

The Mystics upended everything at No. 4. As a part of the agreement involving the Phoenix Mercury to get Nigerian standout Michaela Onyenwere, Washington chose Iowa State center, Stephanie Soares.

To wrap up the first round, Dallas Wings took Lou Lopez-Sénéchal at five, and Atlanta Dream selected Haley Jone at six.

Grace Berger was selected by the Indiana Fever at seven, the Atlanta Dream took Laeticia Amihere at eight, and Seattle Storm selected Jordan Horston at nine.

Zia Cooke joins the Los Angeles Sparks at 10, Dallas Wings took Abby Meyers at 11 and the Minnesota Lynx opted for Maïa Hirsch at 12.
