The Antetokoumpo brothers honor their late father, and take basketball to football investments with MLS side Nashville SC.

Greek-Nigerian professional basketball player Giannis Antetokounmpo has joined the ownership group of Major League Soccer (MLS) side Nashville SC.

The 28-year-old two-time Most Valuable Player (MVP) winner and NBA Champion joins the ownership group with his brothers all professional basketball players.

Giannis brothers part of the ownership group include Thanasis of the Milwaukee Bucks, Alex of the Wisconsin Herd, and Kostas of Fenerbahçe.

The Antetokounmpo brothers joined the Nashville SC ownership group with NHL star Filip Forsberg.

Principal owner John Ingram announced the inclusion of the Antetokounmpo brothers and Forsberg on Thursday, February 2, 2023.

The official social media platform of Nashville SC put out a statement about the new ownership additions.

The statement said, "Nashville SC has announced the addition of @predsnhl star Filip Forsberg and two-time MVP and NBA Champion Giannis Antetokounmpo to our ownership group. 

"Also joining are Antetokounmpo’s brothers Thanasis, Kostas and Alex, all of whom play professional basketball worldwide."

The Antetokounmpo brothers and Forsberg join recent additions to the ownership group such as Reese Witherspoon, her husband Jim Toth, and Derrick Henry. 

Giannis explained in a statement on the Nashville SC website that his father Charles was a professional football player.

He reiterated his desire to one day own a football team and was excited to be the latest addition to the ownership group.

Giannis said, “My father was a professional soccer player, and it was the first sport I fell in love with in Greece. 

"I’ve always had the dream of owning a soccer team. When my brothers and I explored Nashville SC, we knew it was a team and a city that we wanted to get involved with. 

"I couldn’t be more excited to join the Boys in Gold, and can’t wait to come to a match at GEODIS Park soon!”  

Nashville SC heads on the road to face the New York Red Bulls at 6:30 p.m. CT on Saturday, March 4.
