Durant returns to the Phoenix Suns as Brooklyn Nets acquire a massive haul.

The Brooklyn Nets traded All-Star forward Kevin Durant to the Phoenix Suns in the early hours of Thursday, February 9, 2023.

The Nets traded All-Star point guard Kyrie Irving along with Markieff Morris for point guard Spencer Dinwiddie, small forward Dorian Finney-Smith a 2029 unprotected first-round pick, a 2027 second-round pick, and a 2029 second-round pick.

The Net decided to now move Durant and go through a mini rebuild for the rest of the season.

NBA Insider Adrian Wojnarowski confirmed details of the deal for Durant involving the Nets and Suns.

"The Phoenix Suns are nearing a blockbuster trade to acquire Brooklyn Nets star Kevin Durant, sources tell ESPN. Durant wanted move to Suns, and new owner Mat Ishbia pushing to get deal done tonight," Woj disclosed in a tweet.

It was later confirmed a successful trade as Durant moved to the Suns with Anthony "T. J." Warren.

The Suns gave up Mikal Bridges, Cam Johnson, Jae Crowder, four first-round picks, and a 2028 pick swap to make the deal happen.

The landscape of the NBA may change at the trade deadline thanks to Kyrie Irving.

Irving on Durant trade

Irving who made his debut as the Dallas Mavericks defeated the Los Angeles Clippers gave his thoughts on his former teammate Durant leaving the Nets for the Suns.

He said, “We had a lot of conversations throughout the year about what our futures were going to look like.

"There was still a level of uncertainty, but we just cared about seeing each other be in places where we can thrive… I’m just glad he got out of there.”

Durant is injured and is expected to miss the NBA All-Star game but should return to action soon as the Suns continue a push for a playoff push.
