[WATCH] Nigerian athlete chase down her opponent turning Silver into GOLD in the mixed 4x400m Relay final

With 30m to go trailing Botswana, Nigeria's Omolara Ogunmakinju did the unbelievable by chasing down her opponent and winning the Gold medal. This is arguably one of the greatest relay races in history.

Nigeria's Omolara Ogunmakinju was a class apart and the cynosure of eyes in the mixed 4x400m final at the African Games in Ghana, as she anchored her team to the gold medal.

The Nigerian team comprising Emmanuel Ojeli, Patience George, and Sikiru Adeyemi trailed Botswana for the first three baton exchanges until Ogunmakinju received it.

She took the local parlance 'No gree for anybody' seriously, running the race of her life to close the wide gap and eventually overtake the Botswana anchor leg runner, stopping the clock in a new African Record of 3:13.26.

Botswana finished in a National Record of 3:13.99, while Team Kenya anchored by world 800m champion Mary Moraa settled for third also in a NR of 3:18.03. South Africa were fourth in 3:18.54.

The gold medal was Nigeria's third on Day 2 of athletics at the Games, closing an outstanding night for Team Nigeria.
