Shelly-Ann Fraser-Pryce in her first race since the 100m heats at the Paris Olympics, clocked a blistering10.94s (3.1m/s) at the Velocity Fest 17 meet in Jamaica.

In her first official race to kick off the last season of her legendary career, eight-time Olympic medallist Shelly-Ann Fraser-Pryce blazed to an impressive win at the Velocity Fest 17 in Kingston.

The 38-year-old Jamaican sprint queen showed outstanding form in her season opener with her usual fantastic trademark start. She took control of the race from there to the finish line, clocking a blistering 10.94s (+3.1m/s) ahead of Natasha Morrison in 11.01s and Shaniqua Bascombe in 11.28s.

Despite being her first race since the 100m heat at the Paris Olympic Games, the veteran track icon showed no sign of rustiness, giving a glimpse of what to expect for the rest of the season.

She is one of the most enduring track athletes in history, having a career that has spanned over a decade and a half, with the highlights of her glorious career starting at the Beijing 2008 Olympics, where she surprisingly won the gold medal.

With the Velocity Fest being the first meet in her last career year, Fraser-Pryce will be gunning to enjoy and produce more memorable performances as the season progresses with full focus on making the Jamaican team to the World Championships in Tokyo, where she'll be aiming for a medal to cap off her legendary career.
