Sydney McLaughlin-Levrone pips Julien Alfred to World Athletics Female Track Athlete of the Year Award
After another dominant year, American hurdling queen Sydney McLaughlin-Levrone has been named the 2024 World Athletics Female Track Athlete of the Year.
The women's 400mH World Record (WR) holder pipped Saint Lucia's Olympic heroine Julien Alfred, making it the second time in three years she would be winning the award.

McLaughlin-Levrone showed her consistency and dominance in the women's 400mH by claiming the Olympic title in a new WR time and was significant in Team USA's 4x400m gold medal.
In addition, she competed in three major events (200m, 400mH, and 400m) in the outdoor season and was undefeated in all competitions with new lifetime bests and record-breaking performances.

The highlights of her performances include: Smashed her world 400mH record twice (50.65s and 50.37s), won Olympic gold medals in the 400mH and women's 4x400m, and clocked the fourth-fastest 400m time of 48.75s in the world this year.
