With Noah Lyles facing backlash from Jamaican track and field fans on his misleading CHAMPS statement, fiancée Junelle Bromfield reacted to the situation with now-deleted post on her X and Instagram pages.

Following Noah Lyles' misleading statement on the ISSA Grace Kennedy Boys and Girls Championships (widely known as Champs in Jamaica), his fiancée Junelle Bromfield has reacted after being called out by many Jamaicans.

In the latest episode of Beyond The Records podcast, Lyles stated that CHAMPS was 'free' for fans to attend, hence the large turnout of spectators. Apparently, this wasn't true as tickets are sold during the annual meet.

CHAMPS is Jamaica's biggest athletics championships

After the airing of the podcast, several criticized the Olympic 100m champion for spreading misinformation about their prestigious championship. Fortunately, he realized his mistake and shared a video message through the X-handle of Beyond The Records Podcast.

“Today we released a video where we talked about Grand Slam and Boys and Girls Championship in Jamaica, and unfortunately, I did make a comment that provided misinformation," said Lyles.

"I said that Boys and Girls Champs was free to attend, and thankfully the community informed me that is not the case,” he continued.

"It’s just I didn’t fact-check enough, and I’m trying to, you know, grow from this moment.” He promised to keep a strict eye while sharing such updates.

The six-time world champion also apologised in his caption of the video saying: "I'm sorry I spread this misinformation, it was never my job to mislead."

Despite Lyles' apology, several Jamaicans were still offended by the fact that his fiancee should have given him better details beforehand considering she also competed and was discovered through CHAMPS.

Bromfield was then forced to react with a tweet on her X page and post on Instagram story.

"I have represented STETHS  6 years ISSA girls and boys champs. My mom paid for her ticket all those 6 year. So please stop coming to me about this podcast. I never said the tickets were for free,” she wrote.

“Leave me out this one please because mi and unuh find out the same time!!!!!,” wrote Bromfield on her Instagram story.

Although she took down the tweet and Instagram story, it became noticeable for fans across the internet.

While Bromfield remains dedicated and loyal to her country, she has faced tremendous online hate from Jamaican track and field fans for doing the same to her lover Lyles.

Last year, fans even termed her a “traitor” and “backstabber”, for allegedly leaking news from the Jamaican dressing room to Lyles. Their suspicion of her was increased after watching the American athlete claim to know about all the ‘drama’ from the Jamaican dressing room in the podcast, Track World News.

Since then, Bromfield has faced so much hate, death threats, and lost support from her home crowd. Her identity came under attack, and people even started to speak rubbish about her mother’s name and had to openly say she was scared of going back to her home country.
