"It's a special life we live" - Noah Lyles and Femke Bol open up on getting engaged to fellow athletes
Reigning world champions Noah Lyles and Femke Bol are currently two of the world's biggest track stars and have found a way to balance their love lives with their careers.
Most importantly, they are engaged to fellow athletes, who are Olympians and established in their respective events.
During the London Diamond League press conference, Lyles and Bol revealed the benefits of being engaged to a colleague who understands the demands of the sport.
"I think it's something amazing to get to do this together, it's a pretty special life we live, and the support we always give each other, I think it helps actually that we're both athletes," said Bol - a four-time Olympic medallist, two-time world champion, and indoor 400m world record holder.
The Dutch 400mH queen recently got engaged to Belgian Pole Vaulter Ben Broeders, who is a two-time Olympian (2021 and 2024) and the National Record holder at 5.85m.
Similarly, World and Olympic 100m champion Lyles supported her view on the advantages of athlete-to-athlete relationships.
"I would agree with that, I would second a lot of notions that it's a lot easier for there to be understanding. How we work, how we operate, where we have to go, how quickly things can change. But at the same time, for celebrations and big moments, it's just so sweet," he said.
