The Nigerian sprint queen currently serving an 11-year ban by the AIU starting 2022 for multiple anti-doping violations and refusal to cooperate during investigations, took to her verified Facebook page with a message aimed at sports administrators.

Blessing Okagbare is the most decorated athlete in Nigeria athletics history

"Imagine a Nigerian politician, especially those in the sports sector, trying to judge me. You are neither fit nor worthy of judging me. You are not even fit nor competent for that your so-called office," wrote the Beijing 2008 Olympic long jump silver medallist.

Though her post did not target any specific names, it's glaring that her patience with Nigeria’s sports leadership has reached its limit, especially with the recent controversy surrounding Favour Ofili's switch of allegiance to Turkey.

Okagbare seems to be responding to perceived hypocrisy, possibly from officials who once celebrated her achievements but now cast judgment on her fall.

There’s also an air of betrayal, perhaps aimed at figures within the system who enabled poor governance, or those who “pampered” star athletes without upholding discipline or structure. Also, her outburst feels like a continuation of a years-long battle.

Despite the sad ending to her glorious career, she remains a fan favourite. Not just because of her athletic prowess, but because even at her peak, Okagbare was an outspoken critic of corruption, favoritism, and administrative lapses she believed held the sport back in Nigeria.
