Walid Regragui has dismissed talk of referees favouring the host nation, insisting the team's only advantage against Nigeria will be playing in front of home support.

Speaking at a fiery pre-match press conference on Monday, Regragui addressed growing noise surrounding officiating decisions following Morocco's controversial 2-0 quarter-final win over Cameroon.

Despite claims of denied penalties for the Indomitable Lions, Regragui remained unapologetic, positioning his squad as the rightful favorites to lift the trophy on home soil.

Regragui claims home support only advantage against Super Eagles

Regragui claimed that as the primary contenders, Morocco have become an easy target for critics looking to undermine their progress.

Morocco are superb at home.

“As the team to beat, people will try to find all sorts of reasons to say Morocco has an advantage,” Regragui told reporters.

“The only advantage that Morocco has is playing in front of 65,000 spectators. The rest is on the field, we speak on the field.”

"Statistics show we are better than our opponents. We create more chances, and no goals were wrongly disallowed. Some people just look for excuses."

The Atlas Lions are riding a world-record 25-match unbeaten streak, a run that stretches back to their shock exit against South Africa at the 2023 edition.

However, Eric Chelle's Super Eagles will provide their toughest test yet, as they look to win Africa's biggest trophy on home soil.
