AFCON 2025: I have played in front of 90,000 — Osimhen dismisses Morocco's home advantage

Victor Osimhen insists Nigeria will not be rattled by Morocco's home crowd in their blockbuster semi-final meeting this Wednesday.

There is a feeling that the Atlas Lions playing in front of a partisan crowd at the Prince Moulay Abdellah Stadium, will give them a huge advantage a sentiment shared by head coach Walid Regragui.

Osimhen, who is currently just two goals shy of Rashidi Yekini’s all-time scoring record for Nigeria, believes the Super Eagles’ experience in high-pressure environments will be the deciding factor.

“They [Morocco] have a very good squad, talented players, but I think we are one of the most feared teams within this tournament.

"There is no pressure; we take it as it comes. We just display something for the world to see; we're up for this trophy.”

Morocco will be buoyed by fervent home support, a fact that is not lost on Osimhen, who refuses to be intimidated

“It won't be easy because the Moroccans are coming with their fans in thousands, but again, many of us have played in stadiums packed with 90,000 people.

"For me, there's no pressure. I don't think about it, but when the game comes, we go for the win. It won't be easy, but we've got a chance.”

Meanwhile, Osimhen is in line to become Nigeria's all-time eading scorer, a feat that could be achieved with two goals against Morocco.

The 27-year-old has scored 35 goals in 51 appearances for the Super Eagles, chasing the legendary Rashidi Yekini, who hit 37 goals.

The Galatasaray star will now be looking to put Morocco to the sword, and lead his team into the AFCON final.
