Musa has mourned the passing of legendary Super Eagles goalkeeper Peter Rufai
Ahmed Musa has penned an emotional message to the departed Super Eagles legend Peter Rufai.
The 1994 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) winner, Peter Rufai died on Thursday, July 3 at the age of 61 after a prolonged illness.

The iconic shot-stopper, fondly known as "DODOMAYANA," was Nigeria’s first-choice goalkeeper during the nation’s most celebrated period, playing an important role in securing the 1994 AFCON title in Tunisia and featuring prominently in two FIFA World Cups (1994 and 1998).
What Musa said
Musa was among the first to pay a heartfelt tribute, taking to his official X (formerly Twitter) account to describe Rufai as a "true giant of Nigerian football."

“Can’t believe I’m typing this – a post to bid farewell to a true giant of Nigerian football, Peter Rufai,” Musa wrote.
He added, “Your heroic reflexes and unwavering presence between the posts brought us moments of pride on the world stage. May your spirit continue to inspire future generations of Super Eagles. Though you’ve left us, your legacy soars higher than any trophy. Fly high, DODOMAYANA, the nation mourns a hero.”

Musa concluded his tribute by extending condolences to Rufai’s loved ones, “Condolences to your family, friends, teammates, and fans. Rest in peace, legend.”
Also, The Nigeria Football Federation (NFF) also issued a statement mourning the loss, proclaiming, “Peter Rufai, a giant of Nigerian football, has passed on.

Rufai earned 65 international caps for the Super Eagles.
