Yakubu Aiyegbeni shows off boxing skills in viral video

Yakubu Aiyegbeni appears to be leaning toward a different line of work after quitting football five years ago.

The 40-year-old was seen hitting the pads with such ferocity and seemed to be built like a heavyweight in the gym.

Fans of the former Super Eagles striker were impressed by what they saw when he posted a video of himself practicing boxing on Instagram.

When Aiyegbeni scored a goal and a hat-trick for Maccabi Haifa in their Champions League victory against Olympiakos 3-0, as well as during their victory against Manchester United, top scouts in Europe took notice.

After that, the former Julius Berger striker was loaned to Portsmouth of the Championship, where he was signed to a deal for the summer.

Yakubu left the Potters after scoring 29 goals in 65 games, and he went on to play for Middlesbrough in the Premier League, where he scored 25 goals in 73 games over two years.

Things improved when he signed a five-year contract with Everton for a record £11.25 million, where he scored 15 Premier League goals in his first season.

Following four years at Merseyside, the Yak signed a loan with Leicester City, where he scored 11 goals in 20 appearances before completing a transfer to Blackburn.
