What Nigerian goalkeeper Nnadozie said after losing clean sheet record vs South Africa
Brighton and Hove Albion's new signing and Super Falcons goalkeeper Chiamaka Nnadozie has reacted to the outcome of the amapiano derby between Nigeria and South Africa.
Nnadozie’s goal was finally breached in Morocco after five matches as Nigeria recorded a hard-fought 2-1 win against the Banyana Banyana on Tuesday in Casablanca to book a place in the final.
Goals from Rasheedat Ajibade, from the penalty, and a stunning late goal from Michelle Alozie, sealed the deal for Nigeria as the quest for Mission X remained active and alive.
Nnadozie, who was busy in the game conceded from 12 yards following a strange foul from Osinachi Ohale just before the hour mark which gave the South Africans a life line and rejuvenated them in the game.
However, for the 24-year-old Paris FC icon, the result meant the loss of her remarkable clean sheet record in the competition.
But that did not dampen her spirit has she took to socials expressed gratitude to God and excitement as Nigeria go one step closer to a record-extending 10th WAFCON title.
Nnadozie took to her official X account, formerly Twitter, to share the moment with her followers and Nigerians.
“Straight to finals baby, What God cannot do does not exist,” she posted.
Her comments captured the mood and spirit of the entire team and nation, who are proud of their deserved win, albeit hard-fought.
Now, with the final ticket secured, Nnadozie and her Super Falcons teammates will switch attention to host nation, Morocco, whose Atlas Lionnesses also endured a hard-fought battle against Ghana’s Black Queens to book a date with Nigeria in the title decider.
With Nnadozie in goal, Nigerians will be confident that the Super Falcons can bring home the WAFCON crown for a historic record 10th time when they step on the pitch for the final this weekend.
