Nigeria’s women’s basketball team, D’Tigress, have jokingly declared that they’re “practising hard for President Bola Tinubu’s $100,000 reward”, as they prepare for the final of the 2025 FIBA Women’s Afrobasket Championship in Côte d’Ivoire.
Following President Tinubu's recognition of the Super Falcons for their 10th WAFCON victory, they were awarded the national honour Officer of the Order of the Niger, a $100,000 prize, and three-bedroom apartments in Abuja's Renewed Hope Estate.
What D'Tigress said
In a lighthearted moment shared on their X (Twitter) platform after their semifinal victory over Senegal, they referenced a $100,000 cash reward.
“We’re practising for President Tinubu’s $100,000,” D'Tgress posted.

The defending champions are aiming to clinch a fifth consecutive title and face Mali in the final later today.
Should they emerge victorious, D’Tigress will cement their place as the most dominant team in the tournament’s modern era, with six overall titles, including an unmatched five in a row.
Will Tinubu extend the same gesture to the basketball team?
