Minority owners INEOS and Sir Jim Ratcliffe are reportedly still backing the Portuguese boss, insisting he deserves a full season to prove himself.
The mood had briefly lifted at Old Trafford after last week’s victory over Chelsea, but a damaging 3-1 defeat at Brentford quickly crushed that momentum and left United marooned in the bottom half of the Premier League table.
Despite growing outside speculation over Amorim’s future, sources have stressed that Ratcliffe remains supportive. He is said to believe it would only be fair to judge the 40-year-old after a complete campaign, particularly once he has the right players to work with.
Amorim job at Man Utd still safe
Sir Jim Ratcliffe is backing Amorim, feels only fair to judge him on a full season with what he views as right team. External suggestions of shortlists being drawn up dismissed by Utd officials, who are adamant no-one is being lined up to replace Amorim. https://t.co/DrDCaxTDT4

Amorim’s side have managed just 34 points from 33 league games under his management, and they have yet to record back-to-back victories.
The promised step forward after last season’s 15th-place finish has not yet materialised. Amorim, however, insists he remains focused and unfazed by the constant questions about his future.
“I am never concerned about my job – I am not that kind of guy,” he told BBC Match of the Day.
“It is not my decision. I will do the best I can every minute I am here.”
The Red Devils face Sunderland next, and despite the vote of confidence from the board, another bad defeat could push the 40-year-old close to the exit.
