The Copper Queens boast two fearsome forwards in their ranks, the prolific Rachel Kundananjiand their inspirational captain, Barbra Banda.

However, Madugu remains resolute, asserting his team's readiness for the challenge.

"We have our strategy. We’ve studied them closely. We know what they’re capable of," Madugu said.

He added, "We’re not too concerned about individual brilliance, it’s a team game. We’ll work on neutralising their strengths."

The nine-time WAFCON champions were held to a disappointing 0-0 draw by Algeria in their final group game on Sunday night.

Despite Coach Madugu making as many as eight changes to his starting line-up, the West African giants were widely expected to comfortably dispatch their North African opponents.

However, the team delivered a largely lacklustre display, particularly in the attacking third, failing to convert chances into goals.

"First of all, we want to apologise to our dear countrymen and women for not winning the game. I know the expectation is that we must always win. We gave it our best, but it didn’t go our way. We’re sorry, and we’ll work harder to make Nigerians proud in the games ahead,” he concluded.

The quarter-final fixture is set to take place on Friday by 5pm.
