'We play for them, we all are the best' - Moses Simon on Osimhen and Lookman

Super Eagles winger Moses Simon has showered praise on Victor Osimhen and Ademola Lookman, describing the duo as the best players on the African continent while stressing that team success remains Nigeria’s top priority at the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON).

Simon made the remarks during a press conference in Morocco ahead of Nigeria’s quarterfinal clash against Algeria, where he addressed growing debates around the star power and influence of Osimhen and Lookman within the Super Eagles setup.

Rather than fueling comparisons, the forward delivered a strong message of unity and collective ambition.

“Yes, we play for them, they’re the two best player in the African continent,” Simon said.

He added, “There is no time for who is the best or not the best, we are the best, and we just want to win.”

Nigeria has enjoyed a dominant run at the tournament so far, winning all three of its group-stage matches while scoring eight goals and conceding just three.

Their impressive form continued in the round of 16, where they recorded a convincing 4–0 victory over Mozambique.
