AC Milan's senior adviser, Zlatan Ibrahimovic, has lashed out at the team following their Champions League exit, accusing the players of self-inflicted damage.

Milan's 1-1 draw with Feyenoord at the San Siro, combined with their 1-0 loss in the first leg, sealed their fate.

Ibrahimovic was scathing in his assessment, believing that Milan's mistakes, rather than Feyenoord's superiority, led to their downfall.

"Feyenoord were not better than us, we just killed ourselves," Ibrahimovic told Sky. "We are disappointed."

Ibrahimovic also took issue with the referee's decision to send off Theo Hernandez for diving, arguing that the Frenchman is not prone to simulation.

"The referee has been severe with Theo Hernandez with no warning before the red card," Ibrahimovic said. "Theo is not an actor, he does his best."

Milan will now turn their focus to securing a top-four finish in the league as Italy's performance in this year's UCL means they are unlikely to get a 5th spot for next season.
