Victor Osimhen: Super Eagles star vows to ‘match up with the elite’ in Champions League after latest Galatasaray win
Super Eagles forward Victor Osimhen is riding high on confidence and he is taking his Turkish club, Galatasaray, with him.
Following his historic hat-trick performance in the 3-0 demolition of Ajax, a result that saw him rise to the top of the Champions League scoring charts, the Nigerian star has issued a bold warning to Europe’s elite, declaring Galatasaray are ready to match them stride for stride.
Osimhen's goals completely dismantled Ajax coach John Heitinga's pre-match defensive plans, cementing the Turkish side's third consecutive European win and putting them firmly on course for the knockout rounds.
Speaking to Galatasaray TV via UEFA after the monumental victory at the Johan Cruyff Arena on Wednesday night, Osimhen laid out the club's ambitious vision.
“We have a goal. We know what we want, and we know the magnitude of performance you need in the Champions League,” Osimhen stated.
The striker, whose six goals in the competition now put him ahead of the likes of Bayern Munich’s Harry Kane and Kylian Mbappe, the in-form Real Madrid superstar, believes the quality within the squad is the key to their European push.
“We want to match up with the elite,” he added. “It won’t be easy, but we’ll go step-by-step. We have the individual quality to do damage to every team.”
Osimhen's performance which saw him over Super Eagles icon Obafemi Martins in Europe was the embodiment of that quality, with his hat-trick earning him his third consecutive Champions League Man of the Match award.

His deadly combination of pace, power, and clinical finishing proved overwhelming for the Dutch side, who were left in tatters in front of their home fans.
The message is clear: Galatasaray are no longer satisfied with merely participating. Led by their in-form Super Eagles star, they have the ambition and the firepower to shake up the established order in the Champions League.
