‘We did everything we could to keep him’ - Arne Slot claims Alexander-Arnold made his decision to leave
After two decades with Liverpool, Arnold concluded speculation about his future on Monday by declaring his departure.
The fullback rejected several contract renewals from Liverpool, thereby deciding to run down his contract and become a free agent.
He is currently completing a long-term agreement with Real Madrid after the Spanish side made a move to sign him.
What Slot said about Arnold
Ahead of Liverpool’s clash against Arsenal on Sunday, Slot has spoken about Trent’s departure from the club.
According to the Daily Mail, Slot said, “Trent is not the first and won’t be the last to leave a special club. We did everything we could to keep him and then we had to accept his decision.
“You can maybe understand he wants a new challenge because, if he is so many years in the same league, some players want to experience something else.
“It is a disappointment for the fans, teammates and for me, he is leaving. We are going to miss a very good human being and a very, very, very good full back.”
Liverpool's manager, Slot, has announced that Bradley will start in the upcoming match against Arsenal on Sunday. He also cautioned fans against criticising Alexander-Arnold.
