Nigeria's D'Tigress secured their place in history by winning their fifth consecutive FIBA Afrobasket Women’s Championship, a first for any African team.
They defeated Mali 78-64 in a thrilling final at the Palais des Sports de Treichville on Saturday.
This victory marks their seventh overall title and extends their unbeaten Afrobasket run to 29 games since 2015.
D’Tigress celebrated their record-breaking fifth consecutive Afrobasket title win on Sunday night in Abidjan, Côte d’Ivoire.
President Bola Ahmed Tinubu will host the team and may reward them, similar to the Super Falcons WAFCON victory, when he gifted each player $100,000, a 3-bedroom apartment, and a national honour.
