Victor Boniface extends goal drought in Bayer Leverkusen's convincing Werder Bremen win
Nigerian striker Victor Boniface has extended his goal drought at Bayer Leverkusen after firing blanks again in the Bundesliga.
Boniface has now gone five matches without a goal after he was caged in Bayer Leverkusen’s commanding 3-0 thrashing of Werder Bremen.
Boniface struggles against Bremen
The match unfolded as a test for both teams, with Boniface and his Die Werkself team dominating the tie from start to finish.
But despite his remarkable consistent efforts and goalscoring reputation so far this season, the 22-year-old failed to add to his goal tally against Werder Bremen.
The match showcased why Xavi Alonso’s men are top of the table, but for Nigeria’s Boniface, it ended in frustration as he was subbed off in the 71st minute.
Boniface failed to create a single chance or have a shot on target during his time on the pitch, with the Nigerian extending his drought to five matches in the Bundesliga.
The forward’s latest blank means he still has seven goals and five assists in 12 matches now.
