Usain Bolt's first time of breaking the 100m World Record brings back nostalgia of his journey to greatness
Track fans are reliving the memories of Usain Bolt breaking the 100m World Record for the first time, which was the foundation of his journey to greatness.
On May 31, 2008, at the Reebok Grand Prix in New York City, Bolt outclassed a star-studded field that featured world champion Tyson Gay to set a new WR of 9.72s (1.7m/s).
By doing this, he broke compatriot Asafa Powell's record of 9.74s clocked the previous year and improved his Personal Best (PB) of 9.76s to win the Jamaica Invitational on May 3rd, 2008.

His first WR will set his path to being the greatest track athlete in history, as he'll go on to lower this time to 9.69s at the Beijing 2008 Olympic Games, and then the present WR of 9.58s at Berlin 2009 World Championships.
Also, Bolt perfectly doubled in the 200m, setting a new world and Olympic Record of 19.30s in Beijing, then lowering it to 19.19s in Berlin.
In his active years as an athlete, he won 8 Olympic and 11 world championships gold medals, and he's the first sprinter in history to win three consecutive 100m/200m tiles in both championship history.
Here are some fan's reactions to his unbelievable WR moment in New York.
