The team in question, Wythenshawe FC Vets, has gained significant attention recently for assembling a squad of retired professionals who boast a combined total of over 1,800 top-flight appearances. Competing in the Cheshire Veterans Football League, the side has become a viral sensation.

Their roster includes well-known names such as former Manchester City midfielder Stephen Ireland, Premier League winner Danny Drinkwater, and ex-Newcastle striker Papiss Cisse. These players, among others, regularly feature for the ninth-tier club.

Now, the legendary sprinter has thrown his hat into the ring. When asked by talkSPORT if he would consider playing for Wythenshawe, Bolt replied, "Listen, I’m ready. I’m ready. If I get into some shape, I’m ready to go."

Wythenshawe FC Vets made headlines late last year with a string of dominant performances, including an 11-0 demolition of South Liverpool where Cisse scored six goals. The team's impressive lineup also features Ravel Morrison, Danny Simpson, Joleon Lescott, and Emile Heskey.

Last season, former Manchester United captain Antonio Valencia and Leicester City's title-winning skipper Wes Morgan also turned out for the non-league outfit. The club's popularity has soared, amassing over 30,000 followers on TikTok as it continues to attract ex-Premier League talent, with reports suggesting even Wayne Rooney might be interested.

While famous for his unparalleled career in athletics, Bolt is no stranger to the football pitch. After retiring from the track, he pursued his dream of playing professionally, famously joining Australian A-League side Central Coast Mariners for a trial in 2018.

The Jamaican sprint legend scored twice in two pre-season appearances before ultimately turning down a contract offer and ending his trial in November of that year.
