Under-9 stars shine as Nico-led Lagos Tigers, EduFoot claim Supa Liga glory

It was a day of celebration and jubilation at the Meadows Hall in Lekki as the Islanders Supa Liga reached its thrilling conclusion, with Lagos Tigers emerging as champions of the prestigious under-9 tournament.

In front of Pulse Sports Nigeria and an enthusiastic crowd of supporters, the young Tigers sealed their title triumph with a hard-fought 1-1 draw against rivals Lagos Bright Stars in the final round of matches.

Despite going behind to a stunning LBS opener, the Tigers showed the heart of champions to roar back and secure the point they needed to finish top of the Gold group standings.

It capped a sensational campaign for the Tigers, who ended with five wins from their seven matches, scoring an impressive 13 goals along the way.

Inevitably, their free-scoring 10-goal top marksman Nico Onyejianya walked away with the tournament's MVP award after a series of dazzling displays up front.

In the Silver group, Edufoot proved unstoppable as they secured the silverware with a commanding performance to defeat Juventus NG on the final day.

But it was Lagos Tigers who stole the show in Lekki, continuing the production line of emerging talent in Nigeria's sprawling metropolis.

The youngsters provided an exhibition of fearless, entertaining football to thrill the watching parents, who all want them to play football, and underline the bright future that could lie ahead.
