‘'Unbelievable to train with him’ - Osimhen names one player that changed his striking mentality
Osimhen has become one of the deadliest strikers in the world as of now, following his consistency in the last three years.
The Super Eagles star’s career shone to the world after joining Napoli and leading them to the Serie A title in 33 years.
The forward then moved to Galatasaray and has since then continued to show his quality on the field.
Osimhen speaks on Gomez's turning point
Osimhen has mentioned that the club signing of forward Mario Gomez was a decision that prompted him to reconsider his plans.
“When I finished the U-17s, I saw a list of many elite clubs that wanted me," Osimhen explained in a recent interview.
"I looked at the possibility of breaking into the team when I turned 18, and I knew that I could because I have the ability and I believe in myself.”
He added, “I felt like Wolfsburg would be the perfect project for me. I picked Wolfsburg by myself, and I'm happy with the decision.
“But when I went there, it wasn't what I expected in the first six months. I had a meniscus injury and had to undergo shoulder surgery.”
The arrival of Gomez proved to be a pivotal moment. “I wanted to leave on loan at first, but then Mario Gomez came," Osimhen recalled.
"When he entered the picture—a big legend, an experienced striker, one of the deadliest forwards in football—I went to the club administrator and said I'd like to stay.”
Osimhen chose to use the opportunity to learn from the seasoned professional. “I knew I still had time, so I wanted to learn.
“I looked at him in training: his touches, the types of goals he scored, the way he scanned to check for offsides. I thought it was crazy and unbelievable to train with him.”
