Echeverri, who joined Alvarez in the Argentina squad for the Olympics, is expected to spend the rest of the year with his former club before joining City. If his development goes as planned, he could become a valuable addition to City's attacking options and save the club the need to spend on a big-money transfer.

City's success with Alvarez, who was signed in January 2022 for a relatively low fee and sold for a huge profit, demonstrates their ability to identify and develop talent.

They may be poised to repeat this success with Echeverri, who could become the next Alvarez-like talent to emerge from the club's ranks.
