Brentford are weighing their options regarding the future of Nigerian international Frank Onyeka, with several clubs showing strong interest in the midfielder.

Frank Onyeka has found first-team opportunities limited at Brentford during the 2024/2025 campaign, and the midfielder is reportedly seeking a new challenge.

This search for game time led to a loan spell with FC Augsburg last season, where he featured in 31 Bundesliga matches. Despite his experience in one of Europe's top leagues, the 28-year-old has struggled to secure a starting role back at Brentford, making just six substitute appearances in the Premier League this term.

However, his strong performances for the Nigerian national team at the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations in Morocco, where he started four games, have drawn the attention of potential suitors.

Frank Lampard's Coventry City, currently leading the EFL Championship, are keen to bolster their squad with Premier League experience as they push for promotion. Onyeka has been identified as a key target to strengthen their midfield.

The Sky Blues are reportedly frontrunners for his signature but face competition from La Liga side Valencia and fellow English club Sheffield United. According to reports, Brentford have slowed down negotiations with Coventry, a move that has also seemingly deterred Valencia and Sheffield United for the time being.

Onyeka is understood to be open to a move away from the Gtech Community Stadium in search of regular playing time, and the club has reportedly indicated he is not part of their long-term plans.

With his contract set to expire next summer, the upcoming January and summer transfer windows represent Brentford's last opportunities to command a fee for the former FC Midtjylland player.
