Transfer news: Arsenal set to launch €100 million bid for Atletico Madrid star, following Havertz’s injury worries
While Arsenal fans are enjoying a stellar season in both the Premier League and Champions League, the club's hierarchy may already be laying the groundwork for future transfer windows.
Mikel Arteta's side has been in formidable form, with a recent commanding 3-1 victory over Inter Milan extending their perfect run to seven wins from seven matches and securing their spot in the Champions League knockout stages.
This impressive streak has largely justified the club's £250 million summer spending spree, although high-profile signings like Viktor Gyokeres and Eberechi Eze are still finding their footing.
Alvarez on Arsenal’s radar
Arsenal continue to be linked with a move for Atletico Madrid striker Julian Alvarez and are looking to make a €100 million bid for the forward.
The Gunners were reportedly interested in the former Manchester City forward last summer before ultimately signing Viktor Gyokeres for £63 million.
However, Gyokeres has had a challenging start, scoring just five goals in 20 league appearances and the recent setback to Kai Havertz has added to the issue.
According to James Olley on X, “Arsenal exploring possibility of launching a summer move for Julian Alvarez from Atlético Madrid.
“Sources in Spain suggest Atlético would demand a fee in excess of €100m this summer, if they were willing to sell at all. Barcelona also in the mix.”

Arsenal would likely face stiff competition for the Argentine international, with Barcelona also said to be monitoring the situation.
During his time at Manchester City, the World Cup winner secured two Premier League titles and a Champions League medal as part of the 2022/23 treble-winning squad.
Since his move to Atletico, Alvarez has scored 40 goals in 85 games but has yet to win any silverware with the Spanish club.
