Time Up! Giannis Antetokounmpo in talks to leave Milwaukee Bucks

Antetokounmpo began the season in fine form and with confidence in the championship-caliber roster assembled by general manager Jon Horst and coach Doc Rivers.

He had reportedly planned to evaluate the team's performance over the first 25 games to inform his long-term commitment, contingent on the Bucks showing they could contend in the Eastern Conference.

However, the Bucks have stumbled to a 10-13 record, losing eight of their last ten games and currently sitting 10th in the East. The team's struggles have reportedly caused frustration for Antetokounmpo, the front office, and the entire roster.

One source familiar with the situation suggested that unless the team's fortunes dramatically improve, the "writing is on the wall" regarding Antetokounmpo's eventual departure.

During the offseason, Antetokounmpo explored other possibilities, with sources noting he was open to a trade exclusively to the New York Knicks during a multi-week period in August.

That exclusive window has since closed, and should trade talks resume, multiple other teams are expected to pursue the nine-time All-Star.

Antetokounmpo will become eligible for a four-year, $275 million maximum contract extension on October 1, 2026. He would be eligible to sign the same deal with a new team six months after a potential trade.
