‘Think about your health first’ - Galatasaray manager cautions with Osimhen and teammates ahead of Istanbul derby
The Lions head into the Istanbul derby with immense pressure from the upcoming games against Fenerbahçe this Monday.
Osimhen is in a race against time to be fit for the crucial clash at the Şükrü Saracoğlu Stadium after suffering from an injury.
The Nigerian forward sustained a muscle injury during his national team's recent match and has been sidelined for Galatasaray's last two games against Gençlerbirliği and Royale Union Saint-Gilloise.
Buruk’s message to Osimhen
During his pre-match press conference, Buruk emphasised the need for composure and warned his players against taking unnecessary risks in the high-stakes encounter.
"No aggression. We will remain calm and finish the match with 11 men," Buruk stated. "We may be missing a lot, but if you experience a problem, think about your health first."
The manager stressed that no player should feel obligated to play through an injury, regardless of the match's importance.
"I'm aware that our team is missing a lot right now," he continued. "However, if you experience pain or any other issues during a match, you don't have to hesitate to return to the bench.
“You need to think about your own health first. There's no need to harm yourself while trying to help the team."
Despite the cautionary words, Buruk expressed confidence in his players' commitment, adding, "Of course, I have no doubt you'll do your best."
Osimhen has been a revelation for the club since his arrival at Rams Park, netting an impressive nine goals in just twelve appearances across all competitions.
His potential inclusion could be a game-changer as Galatasaray looks to secure a vital result against their fierce city rivals.
