Teboho Mokoena: Agent Breaks Silence on African Giants’ Interest in Mamelodi Sundowns Star
Teboho Mokoena’s agent has commented on the transfer speculation linking his client to a move to Egyptian giants Al Ahly.
Mokoena is rumoured to be courting interest from the Cairo Red Devils, who have reportedly put him on their wish list, amid the uncertain future of Malian midfielder Aliou Dieng.
Dieng has entered into the final six months of his contract at Al Ahly and there have not been any indications of an extension, forcing the record Egyptian champions into looking for ‘Plan B.’
That has seen them turn their attention to Mokoena, one of Sundowns’ key players, who still has three-and-a-half years left on his contract, having just penned a new deal last year.
Speaking over the rumoured interest from Cairo, Mokoena’s agent Glyn Binkin seemed not to be aware of any interest in his client.
What Has Mokoena’s Agent Said?
“We have not received any contact whatsoever from Al Ahly regarding signing Mokoena,” Binkin told Newsroom as per GOAL. “Mokoena is still under contract with Mamelodi Sundowns, having renewed his contract last year.”
Mokoena is one of the ‘undroppables’ at Sundowns who would be difficult to sign from the perennial South African champions.
The 28-year-old defensive midfielder was among the players who impressed for South Africa at the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations where they reached the Round of 16 before their elimination by Cameroon on Sunday.
Mokoena has been at Sundowns since joining from SuperSport United in 2022, winning four league titles, while he has made 156 appearances, scoring 13 goals and providing 12 assists.
