Super Eagles of Nigeria striker Tolu Arokodare has once again been drawn into a social media exchange with fans over requests for financial giveaways.

The 24-year-old, who recently won the prestigious Ebony Shoe, was forced to address a follower on Snapchat after they subtly threatened to report him to Nigerian social media activist VeryDarkMan for his lack of giveaways.

Arokodare’s response, which was reposted on his Snapchat story, provided a candid explanation for his financial approach.

The online interaction began when a fan questioned his absence of giveaways, writing: “Shey you no get naija acct ni ..you never ask anyone to paste aza make you credit dem naira ......we go report you give Verydarkman oo.”

Arokodare directly addressed the fan's query and the subtle threat, explaining that he does not have a Nigerian account, as his finances are managed by his father.

He stated, “This is the exact reason I don't have one. My dad controls my account. I know it sounds funny and like a lie but it's the truth.” 

Arokodare then added that if he did have direct control, he would be in a similar situation, both giving and receiving money from others. 

He continued, “If to say I get naira account, I for Dey even join Una Dey bill people. Cause the rate at which I would've been sending money to people, e for reach for me to bill people too.”

This recent incident is not the first time Arokodare has had to respond to a barrage of fan requests for financial assistance.

Responding to a fan who blasted him for declining requests for financial giveaways, Arokodare stated: “I'm sorry Mr Chairman Sir. I've begged you people too please stop coming here to beg me. See now human rights activist don come here dey fight me… I don't mock or make fun of anybody o please. All I do is reply to questions but this uncle now has come here to drag me.”

These recurring requests and the subsequent public responses from the Super Eagles striker underscore a broader trend among fans of Nigerian public figures who frequently use social media to seek financial support.
