Super Eagles and Gent star Gift Orban was among the nine nominated candidates by CAF to win the award.
The forward had a brilliant season with Belgian club Gent and has been rewarded for his performance.
On December 11, 2023, in Morocco, the esteemed CAF Awards will return with much fanfare to honour the finest players in African football.
CAF and Orban nomination
Gift Orban is set to battle for the CAF Young Player of the Year award alongside eight young African players.
The Gent forward who joined the Belgian side in January 2023 has scored 27 goals and provided two assists in 38 appearances.
Before his move to Gent in January, the Super Eagles star played for Norwegian side Stabæk where he scored 19 goals and provided seven assists in 24 appearances.
However, despite his nomination, he still has to beat the likes of Dango Ouattara, Souleymane Alio, Ernest Nuamah, Abdessamad Ezzalzouli, Bilal El Khannouss, Lemine Camara, Papa Amadou Diallo, Pape Diop and Amara Diouf.
The forward is considered one of the most talented young players in Africa and it is no surprise that he was nominated for the CAF Young Player of the Year award.
