Fulham and Super Eagles midfielder Alex Iwobi has revealed that one of the first things he does, whenever he returns to Nigeria is to order the traditional dish of Egusi and Pounded Yam.

Iwobi, who was born in Nigeria but moved to England as a child, has been a vocal advocate for Nigerian culture and cuisine.

In a recent interview, the 27-year-old expressed his love for the popular West African dish, describing it as a "game changer".

"Whenever I land in Nigeria, the first thing I do is order for Egusi and Pounded Yam," Iwobi said in the video.

 "Nigerian Egusi is a game changer, it's just so delicious and comforting. There's nothing quite like it," he added.

Egusi is a popular Nigerian soup made from ground melon seeds, typically cooked with various vegetables, meat, or fish.

It is often served with the starchy staple of Pounded Yam, which is made by pounding boiled yams into a smooth, doughy consistency.

Iwobi's passion for Nigerian cuisine has not gone unnoticed by fans, who have praised the player for his continued embrace of his cultural heritage.
