Super Eagles legend snubs Lookman names three players who has impressed him in the AFCON group stage

Reflecting on the tournament, Amokachi praised the influence of young talent, noting that their performances underscore the growing competitive depth of African football.

Amokachi gave special recognition to Senegal's teenage sensation, Ibrahim Mbaye, who has been a game-changer despite not starting any of the three group-stage matches.

Nigeria's Raphael Onyedika also caught Amokachi's eye, impressing after being introduced into the Super Eagles' lineup.

Speaking in an interview, Amokachi named his standout players in the group stage but left out Ademola Lookman.

Despite Lookman’s contribution for the Super Eagles, scoring two goals and providing two assists in the group stage, Amokachi failed to acknowledge his performance. 

"We've seen Ibrahim Mbaye, the 19-year-old from Paris Saint-Germain, playing for Senegal," Amokachi noted. 

"He came off the bench in all three group games and made a difference by creating chances and providing assists. That shows real quality from a young player."

"Then there's Raphael Onyedika of Nigeria. He didn't start the first game but came in during the third and has really stood out. I believe he already has two goals," he said.

The former Premier League star also lauded Moroccan forward Ayoub El Kaabi, highlighting his knack for scoring crucial and spectacular goals.

"Another player is El Kaabi of Morocco. He has scored two of the best goals in the tournament so far," Amokachi explained. 

"He didn't start the first game either but came on against Comoros to score and give Morocco three points. Then, in the final group game, he scored another spectacular bicycle kick to secure another win."
